His life

Bruno

Bruno lying low in the grass, eyes nearly closed

Oh Bruno. We don’t even know where to start.

You were a gift from day one, a ten-week-old puppy with terrible gas. Fittingly, you had terrible gas on your last day too. You fit into our family perfectly. You were kind, funny, silly, smart, and the goodest boy. You loved unconditionally. You loved everyone you met, and everyone loved you. How could they not?!

You loved your treats most of all, especially meat. Papa’s beef was your favorite, and the candy corn with him over Halloween! You wore your little skeli-dog costume for me, even though I know you hated it. You loved long walks and hikes, and you ran up the Runyon Canyon stairs like they were nothing. You loved snuggling against me on the couch watching TV, snoring loudly the whole time.

This last year was hard on your body as the arthritis took over. I know you held on for us as long as you could, and on your last day, I knew you were done.

The house isn’t the same without you. I’m holding on to your bedding for as long as it still smells like you. I miss you so much, my boy. It feels like my heart has been ripped in two.
